Overview:
Anubis is a Shadow-element, Rage-type main DPS with a unique summon mechanism. An extra wolf fights alongside you in battle. Using his Ultimate Skill allows him to merge with the wolf, and the extra attacks from skills used after merging benefit from Ultimate Skill DMG bonuses.
However, the signature Functor is somewhat disconnected from the character’s mechanics. The Functor only increases the synergized attack damage of the enhanced wolf and does not increase the damage after merging. Therefore, if you want to play an Ultimate Skill-focused style, it’s generally better to use the 5-star generic Functor.
As a male character, although he has an Ultimate Skillchain with the old man Marduk, he cannot trigger the old man’s high-strength Aether Codes.
His skill mechanics are also relatively disconnected. If you go the Blue line, the Ultimate is basically useless. If you go the Yellow line, the signature Functor is not very useful, and a generic one is better. Additionally, because Jackal’s skills are relatively simple and his ending animation is not long, his AI performance is good. His skills also don’t need to be canceled with a dodge. Randomly dodging to cancel skill ending animation will cause the wolf to lose damage. Therefore, he is also very suitable for new players. He is a good choice for new players to use for progressing through early game content.
In summary, Jackal is a relatively good main DPS. His own strength is average.
Sigil Recommendations:
A mediocre Synergy, not very useful. Even with full Synergy, he can at most be used as a sub-DPS. As a main DPS, his strength is completely unqualified. It should be noted that if you are giving him to the AI, it is better to use the Red line Aether Code. Never, ever, ever give the Blue line to the AI, as he will just stand still.
Sigil Recommendations:
- Standard DPS Build:
- Slots 1, 3, 5: [Mooncrown].
- Slots 2, 4, 6: [Ambush of the Owl]
- Omega Sigils: Choose between
- Slot 2, 4: Replace with [Spartan Battlecry].
- Slot 2, 5: Replace with [Eljudnir].
- Ultimate Skillchain style:
- Slots 1, 3, 5: [Whole Truth].
- Slots 2, 4, 6: [Spartan Battlecry].
Aether Code Recommendations:
As mentioned above, the signature Functor and character mechanics are disconnected. So, if you use the signature Functor, it’s best to use the Blue line Aether Code, ‘Netherworld’s Wrath’ , to extend the duration of the wolf soul. This exchanges a lower Ultimate Skill acquisition rate for increased synergized attack damage, which has almost no negative impact on a Jackal with his signature Functor.
The Red line, ‘Weigher of Hearts’, is more geared towards single-target DPS, and the need for the signature Functor is optional. Players can consider this Aether Code when facing bosses.
The Yellow line also doesn’t have a high demand for the signature Functor. Note that skills 1 and 2 can be pressed twice, and the second time is the wolf’s skill with no change to Jackal himself. Pay attention to the interval to avoid interrupting the wolf’s damaging actions.
If you want to play an Ultimate Skillchain style, it is recommended to use a mixed Aether Code of Blue 1 and Yellow 2.
DPS Rotation:
The starting combo for the Blue line is 3-1-3-2-3, followed by a 1-3-2-3 loop.
Try to fit the loop within Skill 1’s buff window.
After the Ultimate is fully charged, you can use 1-3-2-3 > Ultimate > 1-2-3 to make full use of the Ultimate’s skill CD reset. (For the Yellow line without an Ultimate Skillchain, it’s best not to use the Ultimate, as it wastes DPS time).
The Yellow line playstyle is a bit special; without the signature Functor, the combo is a 1-1-3 > 2-2-3 loop.
Team Recommendations:
For Teaming, the current recommendation is Jackal + Marduk + Lingguang/Oneiroi.
