Overview:
S-Rank Shu is a Thunder Rage-type modifier, with built-in support effects that reduce enemy Wind and Thunder resistance and increase Crit Rate.
She requires a high level of operational skill and is more suited to a solo-play style.
Her Ultimate provides decent team support, but her personal DPS is average. Because she has a high skill ceiling and depends on player execution, she struggles to solo certain high-difficulty stages at low investment; in teamplay, it becomes hard to trigger double counters, and relying only on follow-up attacks her damage is fairly average.
Overall: Shu heavily depends on skill, awareness, and familiarity with her mechanics, for experienced players, she can be very satisfying to play, with fast and fluid damage output.
Average players may want to let the AI handle her.
Synergy evaluation:
Boosts her power by roughly 2–3x, greatly enhancing her solo-play potential. With Thor Skillchain available now, she has become much stronger.
The triple-Thunder team with Shu + Thor + A-Rank Verthandi hits extremely hard.
Sigil Recommendations:
- Slots 1, 3, 5: [Dragon of the Desolate Sea] or [Feathers in the Storm].
- Slots 2, 4, 6: [Spartan Battlecry].
- Can also choose [Feather of the Pacifier], but it requires 3x[Burning Will].
- Omega Sigils: Choose between
- Replacing slots 5, 6 with [Ambush of the Owl].
- Replacing slots 2, 5 with [Dragon of the Desolate Sea] or [Feathers in the Storm] (mainly depends on what you chose for 135)
Aether Code Recommendations:
- Standard DPS Build: Use Red 3 Aether Code (Thundergale Domain). Or Red 2, Blue 1 (Cosmic Pillar). The Yellow line (Thundercall Sandstorm) focuses on Follow-up attacks so choose depending on the situation.
Signature Functor (Pharaoh - Menkaure):
Strongly recommended for her main DPS role, without her Exclusive Functor there is no second stage Follow-up or Counterattack, it changes Shu’s overall playstyle.
DPS Rotation:
Beginner-friendly playstyle:
[2-2-1-1-2 or 3-3-1-1-3] loop [] until 6 Marks then 1 (Shifting Squall)
Advanced playstyle:
Regardless of your current stance, always be thinking about which stance you’ll need next. During the use of Skill 2 or Skill 3, you can activate Skill 1 (Shifting Winds) to switch to the stance you want in order to trigger either a Counterattack or a Follow-up Attack. After using Skill 2 or Skill 3, you can also switch stances to decide whether the second stage will be a Follow-up or a Counterattack.
In other words, you can alternate sequences such as
Follow-up 1 → Follow-up 2
Follow-up 1 → Counterattack 2
Counterattack 1 → Follow-up 2
Counterattack 1 → Counterattack 2
to quickly gain 6 Marks (Lightning Rod Mark and Hillshook Mark combined), then use Skill 1 (Shifting Squall) to consume them for a full rotation of burst damage. (This is the pre-Synergy pattern.)
After the Synergy patch (even without unlocking the Synergy[1]) an additional Follow-up or Counterattack can be triggered, resulting in four possible sequences:
Counterattack → Follow-up → Counterattack
Counterattack → Counterattack → Follow-up
Follow-up → Counterattack → Follow-up
Follow-up → Follow-up → Counterattack
These require practice, but aren’t too difficult — you can start by getting used to
Counterattack → Counterattack → Follow-up
andFollow-up → Follow-up → Counterattack
. For example, performing two Counterattacks, then pressing Skill 1 to switch to Attack Stance for an extra Follow-up Attack; or performing two Follow-up Attacks, then pressing Skill 1 to switch to Defensive Stance for an extra Counterattack.
Tip: With Red line node 3 Aether Code, you can use Shifting Squall in Defensive Stage to trigger a Counter for free. This can be done repeatedly and works even without Rage.
[1]: Originally, the signature Functor only granted one extra Follow-up or Counterattack, it was improved to grant both one Follow-up and one Counterattack, even on it’s base form.
Stat Boost Priority:
- Prioritize Skill 1, then Skill 3 and Skill 2.
Team Recommendations:
- The optimal team is a dual-Thunder team with Buzenbo + S-Rank Zenkibo + S-Rank Kali /S-Rank Hera / Lingguang / A-Rank Verthandi.
- At low investment, the damage of Buzenbo and Zenkibo is similar.
- At high investment, Buzenbo’s damage surpasses Zenkibo’s, so you can consider bringing Hera to boost Buzenbo’s damage as the sole main DPS.
